John Blair's poetry and criticism have appeared in more than three dozen journals and magazines, including Shenandoah, The Sewanee Review, Poetry, Southern Poetry Review, The Georgia Review, Southern Humanities Review, American Literature, and Studies in the Novel. He is the author of two novels, both published by Ballantine, A Landscape of Darkness and Bright Angel.

John is also director of the undergraduate creative writing emphasis and co-director of the SWT in Ireland program.

John also has been named the 22nd winner of the Drue Heinz Literature Prize, the nation's most prestigious award for a book of short stories. Blair's manuscript, American Standard, was selected from nearly 250 entries and will be published by the University of Pittsburgh Press this fall.
