Center for the Study of the Southwest

Mark Busby and I have been editing Southwestern American Literature since 1992 and Texas Books in Review since 1995. These are productions of the Center for the Study of the Southwest. Mark Busby, director of The Center, is also responsible for setting up the Jesse H. and Mary Gibbs Jones Professorship of Southwestern Studies. I was the first holder of this chair from 2002-2004. James Kimmel, Professor of Geography, is in the second year of his three-year tenure as its holder. He has recently published a book on the San Marcos River, The San Marcos: A River's Story. The Center is the home of the Southwestern Regional Humanities Center, and Busby is also its director. The Center also supports a minor in Southwestern Studies.
