I taught seventh-grade language arts and reading and eight and ninth
grade first- year French.

September 1960-June 61
I taught four sections of sophomore English (lots of Julius Caesar
and Silas Marner) and one section of first-year French to junior
and seniors.

I taught three sections of first-year French to sophomores and one
section of second-year French to seniors.

I was an Instructor of English and taught five sections of first-year
English. I taught twenty-five students in each class and taught
six days a week—yes, Saturday, too. Each student wrote eleven
five-hundred-word themes. That's when I learned to teach writing.
